photo south hot One advantage to camping so close to the car? You can load up then do a day hike without a heavy pack! Another advantage? Carrying a dSLR with an extra lens is not such a burden! Such was the case on both counts today. The day was perfect for the 5 mile round-trip hike to Horsepound Falls. We packed small day packs with lunch and headed out. Pretty soon it was clear that this would be no ordinary hike. The wildflowers were in full bloom! I was stopping every few minutes for photo ops. In retrospect, I should have saved some of those stops for the trip back - it was hot, humid, and steep and I could have used the rest! This is the view of the falls as we came down from the main trail.
